“An empty iron box gets value when it contains jewels. So too the body will be honoured when it contains the jewel of Divine consciousness and the gems called virtues. Life has to be lived through for the opportunities it provides to unfold human values. Otherwise one becomes a burden upon earth, a mere consumer of food. Life is a steady march towards the goal; it is not a meaningless term of imprisonment or a casual picnic. Even if you have no steady faith in God or in any particular Name or Form of that Immanent Power, start by controlling the vagaries of the mind, the pulls of the ego, and the attractions of sense-attachments. Be helpful to others; then your conscience itself will appreciate you and keep you happy and content, though others may not thank you.”

The hunt for comfortable jobs and positions of influence, the founding of banks and business houses, the growth of bungalows – all this is evidence of the eagerness to live in happiness. But there is no real eagerness to live in peace. Happiness should not be confused with peace. No one rich, well placed, prosperous or powerful has peace. Peace cannot be found in passbooks or iron safes. You can investigate and verify this truth yourself. Peace cannot also be ensured by the piling of bombs and weapons. Mere terror and counter-terror will not establish cordiality and harmony. Realize that the physical is subordinate to the spiritual. The secret to peace lies in service and love towards all beings. International peace cannot dawn until the minds are cleansed of hatred and terror; remove these two evil traits within each heart and plant therein love and service.”

If you have love for God, you will love all, for God is in every one. You sing bhajans (devotional songs) which say “God is all, God is in everyone” (Antha Sai Mayam). If that is true, how can you have love for God alone? You have pictures of God in your home or in the temple. If anyone speaks ill of any of them, do you like it? You don’t! So too, when you treat anyone harshly or speak rudely to anyone, you are treating Me harshly. When you are insulting anyone, you are insulting Me. I desire that you should conduct yourselves in a loving, harmonious and peaceful manner at all times! Serve everyone gladly, as you would serve Me.”

God is a witness; He neither protects nor punishes you. Each one is responsible for their pleasure or pain. In this New Year, develop new and sacred feelings and make everybody happy. Do not struggle for money; strive for love. Once you develop love, there will be no scope for evil qualities like anger, jealousy, etc. If your thoughts and actions are good, your future will be good. Then the whole country, nay, the whole world will prosper. Pray for the peace and prosperity of the entire world. Peace can be attained only through practice of human values.”

TO be a good footballer, i realized that the most important requirement is self confidence. Lacking in self confidence been letting me down in many games and competition. After the injury i sustained few years ago, my game went downhill all the time many due to the lack of confidence. After today’s back to back losses, only one thing came to my mind. Why are u stuck in a cage when playing football? Why dont u take the shot? Why dont u take on the player? Ant the answer is I must be confident and thats all i need. Lets see what happens next week
